Description: A project involving Varmarskoli School, Iceland and Leagrave Primary School, Luton. The children will explore and investigate what it is like to be a child in the other country, culture and history. The project aims to enrich children’s experiences of the world around them.
Age range: From 8 to 13
Duration: A month
Aims: Connecting two schools electronically Providing means for transferring information Enriching learning experiences Developing children’s questioning skills Establishing long term information partnership
Expected Outcomes: Children to provide information about what it is like to be a child in their country. Powerpoint presentations, photographs, digi blu animations and videos
Procedural Plan: Initially email contact between teachers co-ordinating the project to agree aims and outcomes of the project. Contact to agree on communication techniques to be used. Teacher to introduce connection between the schools early in Autumn term, and inspire children to think about what they would like to find out the other locality. Communication between classes to include web cams, emails, chat rooms – as agreed with school policy.
