Description: Students will make a portrait of a statistic teenager. They will look at each others and try to understand the similarities and the differences between them. In this project we draw students’ attention to the important role of Mathematics in the process of learning about the world and lots of its spheres in which teenagers exist. Mathematics enables students to “exercise their minds” and it is helpful to visualize many life issues and problems making them available for young people. In this project students will use the newest computer and telecommunicative technologies making contact with peers from other country (countries). Thanks to the emotional engagement pupils are given a strong motivation to learn English and they improve their language competences.
Duration: Six months.
Aims: Learn to write a questionnaire - Gather, collect and select information - Put information into a spreadsheet, make diagrams and prepare presentation ü Compare teenagers’ style of life – way of studying, spending free time, what are you especially interested in the youth culture, what kind of young people behaviour do you prefer - Spread the knowledge about the partner countries - Exchange information with peers - Develop communicative skills - Acquire the fluency in English as an international language - Acquire the fluency in the computer and telecommunicative technologies.
Expected Outcomes: Posters, PowerPoint presentations, photos, letters and e-mails, mp3.
Procedural Plan: Students learn to write the questionnaires, analyse data, use them to write personal profiles. They get the experience. e.g. they get the information about peers, get the ability in using modern ways of communication. They are to be creative.
